Veterans Outreach Program

Mission Statement

To extend a helping hand to Veterans who are homeless or near homeless by promoting recover y oriented care and connecting them with vital human resources and social services.

“A Hand Up - Not a Hand Out.”

Since 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion has operated Veterans Service Bureaus providing a holistic approach to representation, advocacy and a ssistance to serving CF members, Veterans, RCMP members, and their families.

This service includes assistance of an emergent and urgent nature.

Homelessness or near homeless has been identified as a growing issue facing those we serve.
To meet this ever increasing need the Nova Scotia Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion has embarked on the Veterans Outreach Program.

The Programs’ mission is to extend a helping hand to Veterans who are homeless or near homeless by promoting recovery oriented care and connecting the m with vital human resources and social services.

By fostering and forming mutually supportive partnerships with established community resources, health care professionals, all levels of government and like - minded individuals The Vete rans Outreach Program will offer

“A Hand Up - Not a Hand Out.”

Supported financially through the Poppy Trust Fund and The Royal Canadian Legion Benevolent Fund , clients may access these supports through each level within the organization; local Branches, Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command and Dominion Command.

The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest Veterans based community service organization in Canada with more than 350000 members in 1500 Branches across Canada, the US and Europe.
