www.ns.legion.ca 107 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion MURPHY, Patrick Joseph WWII Patrick was born on February 5, 1923 in Kline Heights, Halifax, NS. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve in 1941 in Halifax, NS at the age of eighteen. He completed a total of 717 days of Overseas Service, aboard various ships: HMCS Sydney, HMCS Stadacone, HMCS Shelburne, HMCS Cornwallis, with the majority of sea time being served on the Corvette, HMCS Galt and HMCS Glace Bay. On January 10, 1946, he married Victoria Oickle, settling in Shelburne. Patrick passed away on June 7, 2004 in Shelburne, NS. He is buried at Sandy Point Cemetery, Shelburne. Submitted by Family. MURRAY, Clyde L. WWII Clyde was born in July 1923 in Wolfville, NS. He had been living in Black River, Kings County, NS, when he enlisted on March 8, 1942. He was posted overseas to England in October 1942. He served with the Medium Artillery 21st Army Corp. He went to France on June 12, 1944. He was later posted to Germany with the 5th Division Army Corp. He returned to Canada in October 1945. Submitted by Lumsden Branch #074. MURRAY, John WWII John was born in Trenton, NS in 1921. He presently lives in New Glasgow, NS. He served with The Royal Canadian Army Service Corp from September 1941 to December 1945 in England, ,France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. John is a very active member of Branch #29, serving from 1993 to present as Sgt. at Arms and is also active in the Building Restoration Committee, as well as the Poppy Campaign. John has been a member of Branch #029 since 1986. Submitted by Trenton Branch #029. MURRAY, John "Trapper John" WWII Murray served the Royal Canadian Army with the Cape Breton Highlanders. His tour of duty included Canada, and Europe. He was taken as Prisoner of War and later released. He currently lives in Mulgrave. Submitted by Cambrai Branch #037. NEILY, Donald WWII Don was born in 1922 in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to Middleton, N.S. at the age of two. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, trained to be a pilot and served as an instructor in Canada, as well as flying Anti-submarine patrols. He was demobilized in 1945 and now resides at the VAC unit in Middleton. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001.
