www.ns.legion.ca 125 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion RODDA, Edward J. WWII Jack was born at Cornwall, England in 1926 and came to Canada the same year. He Joined the RCAF in 1943 serving in Canada at several stations. After the war, he remained in the forces until 1968. Jack now resides in Middleton, NS and is a Past President and Life Member of Middleton Branch #001. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001. ROSS, Robert G. WWII Robert was born in Oxford, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force Bomber Command in England during the war. He was discharged in 1945. Robert is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #074, Wolfville and resides in Wolfville. Submitted by Lumsden Branch #074. RUSSELL, Lloyd G. WWII Lloyd was born in Digby, N.S. in 1921 and later moved to Lunenburg County and took up residence in Mahone Bay, N.S. During the war, Lloyd served in England, France, Belgium and Germany with the RCEME. Lloyd was Past President and Life Member of Branch #049, Mahone Bay until his death in 2005. Submitted by Mahone Bay Branch #049. RUSSELL, Roderick WWII Roderick was born in December 1921 in Kentville, N.S. He joined The Royal Canadian Hussars Reconnaissance Regiment in June 1941 and was a part of the D-Day invasion of June 1944. He was also part of The Canadian Contingent tasked to protect the Nimegan Bridge in Holland. He was discharged in January 1946. He worked for a major oil company until his retirement in 1980, and has been a Legion member since 1982. Submitted by Fairview Branch #142. RYAN, H. G. KOREA H. G. Ryan was born in a small village on the Prospect Road in 1932. He joined the army in the early 1950’s and was trained for Special Forces in Korea. He went to Korea in 1952, returned to Canada and released in 1954. He rejoined the Army Signal Corps in 1954, serving in the first United Nations force to serve in Cyprus in 1964. He was an instructor with the RCS of I in Borden, Ontario. He was last posted to Debert, NS in 1970. He held offices at the local Legion Branch, including two years as President. He started a local unit of Korea Veterans Association of Canada, serving as President for three years; Nova Scotia Regional President, Atlantic President, and First Vice President of Korea Veterans of Canada.
