www.ns.legion.ca 129 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion SHEPARD, Albert WWII Albert was born in March 1925. He was the son of Charles and Sadie (Holmes) Shepard. After the war, he married Martha Anderson of Donkin, NS. He entered the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 at the age of 17 and served on the British cruiser, the Sheffield, and participated in the sinking of the battleship Scharnhorst. He eventually moved to Massachusetts. Albert passed away on May 12, 1982. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SHEPARD, Angus WWII Angus was the son of Charles and Sadie (Holmes) Shepard. He was born in November 1923. He was married to Muriel MacLeod of Dominion. He served in the 27th Canadian Armoured Regiment (SFR). He was a trooper who entered the war in February 1943, and served until March 13, 1946. After the war, he moved to Toronto. Angus passed away on March 10, 1968, at the age of 45. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SHEPARD, Herbert Cecil WWII The son of Charles and Sadie (Holmes) Shepard, Herbert was born on July 24, 1921. He entered the Navy at the age of 20 and served until the end of the war on corvettes escorting convoys in the North Atlantic. He was married to Flora MacKeigan of Donkin, NS. He received a citation from the Royal Canadian Humane Association for his heroic action in saving Earl Wadden, of Port Morien, from drowning in August 1935. He left Port Morien after the war and lived in Toronto for several years. Herbert passed away on February 25, 2003. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SHEPERD, Robert R. WWII Robert was born on March 30, 1918, the son of Margaret and Daniel Shepherd. He served as a signalman in the Royal Canadian Signals in Canada, United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He married Selena Ingraham and lived in Long Beach, Port Morien. Robert passed away on June 3, 1997, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay, NS. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055.
