He served with the 6th Mounted Rifles during World War I. George passed away on April 14, 1951. He was a brother to Charles Henry Smith. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009. SMITH, George Frederick WWII George was born on February 21, 1896 in Newfoundland, the son of George and Sarah Smith. He served overseas in the Second World War as an army cook with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was married to Louise (Curry) Hall of Port Morien, NS, and Annie O’Quinn of Shearstown, NL. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #055. He passed away on March 11, 1969. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SMITH, Hugh Leo WWII Hugh was born in 1925 at Hortonville, N.S. He joined the army in July of 1941 with Regiment 109 Battery 1st L.A.A. Regt. Lanark and Renfrew Scottish. He trained in Canada and served overseas in England, Ireland, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany and was in Holland when the war ended. Hugh returned to Canada via the ship “Elle De France” in 1945. Hugh resides near Wolfville and has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 8 years. Submitted by Lumsden Branch #074. SMITH, Robert Eugene KOREA Robert is the son of Stanley and Christine (MacPherson) Smith. He was born in Port Morien, NS on July 30, 1927. On February 15, 1949, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Cape Borden and Petawawa. He was a member of the 3rd PN of the Royal Canadian Regiment. Between February 27, 1953 and April 15, 1954, he served in the Korean War. He resides in Cornwall, Ontario. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SNOW, Albert WWII Albert served with the Cape Breton Highlanders from 1941 -1946. Service in Canada, United Kingdom, and Italy. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055.
