www.ns.legion.ca 139 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion SPENCER, Eldon(photo unavailable) WWII Eldon was born on September 29, 1915, the son of William “Willie Y” and Marion “Louise” (Peters) Spencer. He was a sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. He married Elvira MacLean of Dominion, NS. Eldon passed away in 1961 as the result of a tragic accident, falling into an open shaft at Guy’s Store in Glace Bay, NS. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SPENCER, Frederick Leroy WWII Fred was born at Wolfville, N.S. in 1925. He joined the Army in 1943 at the age of 18 years. He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Canada, Belgium and Holland. He was in Holland during the liberation. He was discharged in 1946. He re-enlisted in 1951 and served in Germany with the Occupation Forces. He was discharged in 1954. Fred has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Wolfville for 19 years. He still resides near Wolfville. Submitted by Lumsden Branch #074. SPENCER, Herbert William WWII Herb was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in October 1912. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army, 3rd Anti-Tank Regiment in 1941. He served in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged in October 1945 and resided in Wolfville until his death in 1975. Submitted by Lumsden Branch #074. SPENCER, Samuel Archibald WWII Archibald was born on July 15, 1915 in Port Morien, NS, the son of Clyde and Katie Spencer. He served in the Second World War from 1944 to 1946 in the West Nova Scotia Regiment. Places of service include Belgium, Holland and Germany. He married Gertrude (Kiley) Spencer. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. SPENCER, Stanley Morton Jr. WWII Stanley was born on July 4, 1916 in Mira, NS. He was the son of Zaccheus and Ann (Nicoll) Spencer. He served in the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Army with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Following the war, he worked in Ontario as a farm hand. Stanley passed away in 1996 and is buried at St. James Cemetery, Ontario. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055.
