He joined the RCAF Medical Corps in 1941 and served in the UK and Germany. He returned home in 1945 and now resides at the VAC unit in Middleton. He is a Legion Member. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001. VAUGHAN, James Bernard WWII Bernie was born in 1919 at Halifax, N.S. He served overseas from 1943 to 1946 in Bramshot England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany as a Lieutenant in the Artillery Corp. Bernie was a District Protection Officer with the Department of Fisheries from 1946 until retirement in 1979. He resides in Truro where he served a President of Colchester, N.S. Branch #026 in 1969. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026. VROOM, Helen WWII Helen was born in Bear River, NS. She joined the CWAC in September 1942. She was stationed at Aldershot, NS. She trained to be an Officer (Assistant Adjutant). She served in Canada until she left the forces in April 1945. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022. WADDEN (MOONEY), Margaret Daisy WWII Daisy was born on May 27, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Philomena Wadden. She served in WWII in Holland. Daisy married Barney Mooney. Daisy passed away on July 16, 2000 and is buried in Windsor, Ontario. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Alexander Roy WWII Roy was born on August 6, 1919 in Port Morien, NS, the son of Walter and Agnes (Wilson) Wadden. He served as a corporal with the Royal Canadian Army in England, Italy, and Western Europe from 1941 to 1945, as a member of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He received the Italy Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, as well as the France and Germany Star. After the war, Roy worked as a mechanic and later became full-time paid Fire Chief of Glace Bay Fire Department, the first to hold this position. He was a member of John Bernard Croak VC Branch#003, The Royal Canadian Legion, Glace Bay. He married Mary MacIntosh. Roy passed away on October 26, 1998. Submitted by Glace Bay Branch #003.
