www.ns.legion.ca 155 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion WADDEN, Edward A. WWII Edward was born on July 11, 1926 in Waddens Cove, NS, the son of Sarah (Beck) and John Wadden. He served in the Prince of Wales Rangers, Peterborough Regiment in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He married Amy Boutilier. Edward passed away on September 20, 1999 and is buried in the South Head Cemetery. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Kenneth R. WWII Kenneth was born in Port Morien, NS on December 8, 1923, the son of Thomas H. Wadden and Mamie Nicholson. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from February 18, 1943 to November 5, 1945. He served mainly on the North Atlantic Convoy Escort Duties as a coder aboard the HMCS Oakville and the HMCS Kentville, escorting ships from New York to the mid-Atlantic. Ken moved to Vancouver Island after the war and still resides there. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Lawrence Elroy WWII Lawrence was born on June 23, 1923 in Donkin, the son of Thomas and Gladys (Penny) Wadden. He served in the Military Police (Provost Corps) from 1941-1945. Lawrence completed basic training in the Annapolis Valley and Borden, Ontario. He was stationed in Halifax, Sydney, Glace Bay, and Newfoundland. Lawrence married Velma Whalen. After the war, he worked as a miner. Lawrence presently resides in Long Beach, Port Morien. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Neil McAulay WWII Neil was born on October 25, 1924 at Wadden’s Cove, Port Morien, NS. His parents were George and Elva (Peters) Wadden. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1946 in Yorkshire, England. After the war, he worked as a fisherman, and then a carpenter. He married Theresa MacDonald. Neil passed away on September 29, 1998 and is buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Morien. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Nelson H. WWII Nelson was born on January 20, 1918 in Wadden’s Cove, Port Morien, NS, the son of John and Sarah (Beck) Wadden. He served during WWII in the Royal Canadian Army. He married Theresa Petrie. Nelson passed away on November 7, 2000 and is buried at St. Eugene’s Cemetery, Dominion, NS. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055.
