www.ns.legion.ca 157 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion WADDEN, Patrick William “Patsy” WWII Patrick was born on January 22, 1926 in Port Morien, NS. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret (MacNeil) Wadden. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Army from 1944 to 1946, serving in Yarmouth, Aldershot and Halifax. He worked in the Infantry, Medical Inspection Room, Batman. He married Aiko Jinnouchi and lives in Vancouver, BC. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WADDEN, Thomas Harold WWII Harold was born on March 3, 1919, the son of Thomas and Philomena (Kavanaugh) Wadden. He enlisted in the 9th S/L Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery in 1940. He then transferred to the coastal battery of Royal Canadian Army in Newfoundland. He volunteered for paratrooper and was dispatched to Shilo, Manitoba for training. Harold requested to go overseas and was posted with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Northwest Europe and the United Kingdom. Overseas for 17 months, he attained the rank of sergeant and took discharge in 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #055, Port Morien. He married Anna Murrant. Thomas passed away on August 2, 1984, and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Morien. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WALKER, Ernest WWII Ernie was born in Nottingham, England and lived his adult life in Kentville, NS. He fought from 1940-1945 in Italy and Northwest Europe. He was a Life Member with 40 years Legion Membership at the time of his death in 1994. Submitted by Kings Branch #006. WATCHORN, Ken WWII Ken Watchorn joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1942 just after his 18th birthday. He received his wings at Dunville Airfield, Ontario and was posted overseas in April 1944. Ken Joined #403, the Canadian Wolf Squadron. This was the first of 35 Royal Canadian Air Force Squadrons formed overseas during World War II. Ken flew 53 operational flights with the Supermarine Spitfire Mark XVI fighter plane. He was awarded the 1939-1945 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar, the Defence Medal and the France Germany Star. Captain Watchorn became Commanding Officer of the 795 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in 1977 and served five years in this capacity, he continued to serve six years as the Legion Sponsor Committee Chairman. He is a Life Member of the Iqaluit Branch #168 Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Iqaluit Branch #168. WATSON, Dalton KOREA Dalton served in Korea with The First Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillary from May 1952 until June 1953. Submitted by Stewiacke Branch #070.
