He was a private in the Royal Canadian Army, Cape Breton Highlanders from January 1943 to May 3, 1946 and served in France, Italy, and Germany. He married Elizabeth MacQueen of Donkin, NS. After the war, he lived in Sudbury, Ontario. Gordon passed away in 1996. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WILSON, James Arthur "Bumps" WWII James was born in 1921 in Port Morien, NS. His parents were John Thomas Wilson and Alice (Fleet) Wilson. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1939 and served in Yarmouth and Halifax. He held the rank of private. He was discharged in March 1943 because of rheumatic fever. Never married, James passed away on March 18, 1978. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. WINCHESTER, L. E. R. "Bud" WWII Bud was born in Smith’s Cove, Digby County, NS. He served in the RCCS from 1940-45. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022. WRIGHT, Edward Nelson WWII Edward was born October 1, 1925 in New Westminster, B.C. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy, Wireless Operation, North Atlantic and overseas. Nelson passed away on May 30, 1980 in Greenhill, Hants Co., N.S. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009. WRIGHT, Hugh WWII Hugh was born in Fife, Scotland on September 10, 1918. He enrolled in the Canadian Army on January 4, 1941. Hugh was a gunner and a paratrooper with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe. Hugh was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France-Germany Star, Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service medal with clasp. Hugh returned to civilian life on demobilization on November 15, 1945. Submitted by Vimy Branch #027.
