He enlisted in the Canadian Army Signal Corps in 1942 and served in the UK, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland, returning to Canada on December 31,1945. He now resides in Middleton, N.S. Fred joined the Legion over 60 years ago and is a Past President and Life Member of Middleton Branch #001. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001. BALL, Wilson F. WWII Wilson was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up there. He moved to Nova Scotia after the war. He fought with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in Belgium, and was wounded in combat at Bergen op Zoom. He passed away in 2001. Submitted by Kings Branch #006. BARR, Paul Joseph WWII Paul was born in Kingston, Ontario. He joined the Navy and retired as a CPO2. During the war, his tour of duty took him to Korea. He received KVSM and NATO Peace Keeping medals and CD and Clasp. Paul belongs to Calais Branch #162. Submitted by Calais Branch #162. BARRASS, George Roland WWII Roland was born on April 4, 1919. He served with the Canadian Army from 1940-1954 in the Pay Corp. While his hope was to be shipped overseas to participate in the war activity in Europe, the Army decided to use his accounting talents closer to home. Roland resides in Truro where a great part of his life centres around his church. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026. BARRETT, Harold "Jake" KOREA Harold was born in Bear River, NS. He served in the Royal Canadian Regiment in Korea from 1951-53, then joined the First Canadian Guards and transferred to the Black Watch Regiment in 1954, where he served until 1970 when they disbanded. While with the Black Watch, he served in Germany from 1962-65, Cyprus in 1966, and took part in the Tattoo in 1967. When the Black Watch disbanded, he served with the second battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. In 1967, he was posted to CFB Cornwallis and retired in 1976.
