He was born on November 9, 1917. He served in the RCAF in the supply trade in Montreal, Camp Borden, and Angus, Ontario, enlisting in 1942 and attaining the rank of sergeant. During the war, he was a guard in Montreal. He was discharged in 1945. He later re-entered the RCAF after the war and served until 1968. Carlyle passed away on February 15, 1990 in Angus, Ontario. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. BOUTILIER, George Elmer WWII George was born in Port Morien, NS on May 30, 1915, the son of Louis and Lillian (Murphy) Boutilier. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Black Watch Regiment, which served in Holland, France and Germany. He took part in the liberation of Holland in 1945. Elmer received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He worked all of his life as a miner but he was known in the village as the unofficial barber. George passed away on December 23, 1995. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. BOUTILIER, Gilbert WWII Gilbert was born on July 30, 1922, the son of Louis and Lillian (Murphy) Boutilier. He served in the Navy from 1940 to 1945. He worked on a ship transporting the first troops to England. He served in Canada, Newfoundland, England, and Gaspe. He is married to Joyce Carabin and they live in Glace Bay, NS. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. BOUTILIER, Henry R. WWII Henry was born on December 1, 1908 in Big Glace Bay, NS. He was the son of James and Christy (MacQueen) Boutilier. He was a private in the Cape Breton Highlanders from 1940-1944, serving in Canada. After the war, he was a coal miner in Caledonia No. 20, until his retirement. He was married to Katherine Neilson. Henry passed away in 1985. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055. BOUTILIER, Howard "Buddy" James MacLeod WWII Buddy was born on June 19, 1921, the son of George H. and Maude E. (MacLeod) Boutilier. He served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, from 1942 to 1945. Sergeant Boutilier was a member of the 1st Canadian Airborne Regiment and served overseas in France and England. He married Kathleen Young. Buddy passed away on February 24, 1981. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005.
