He served in Canada, United Kingdom and Continenal Europe. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, France & Germany Star and Liberation of Holland. he was discharged from active duty on February 15, 1946 and returned to Mulgrave. Submitted by Cambrai Branch #037. BROWN, Alpheus Franklyn WWII Alpheus was born at Upper Port La Tour, NS on February 2, 1922.. He enlisted at Halifax, N.S. in 1940 with the Princess Louise Fusiliers and served overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He served in England and France and was taken prisoner at the Falasis Gap in 1944. He was later released by the Free French Underground. He lived in North Sydney, N.S. after the war, until his death on April 21, 1987. Submitted by Cape Sable Branch #148. BROWN, Donald K. WWII Donald was born in Bear River, NS. He joined the Army in 1941 and was sent to Scotland with the Forestry Corp. He joined the RCOC in 1943, and in 1944 he was sent to France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He returned to Canada in 1945 as was released in 1946. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022. BROWN, Donald R. WWII Don was born at Bear River, N.S. in 1923. He joined the Canadian Army Forestry Corps in 1941, and transferred to the Ordinance Corps in 1943, serving in France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. He returned home in 1945, and joined the U.S.A.F. from 1950 to 1954. Don is now residing at the V.A.C. unit in Middleton, and is a sixty-year member of Bear River Branch #022 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022. BROWN, Walter Earl WWII Earl served with the Halifax Rifles, and was transferred to the Service Corp, Embarkment Unit from 1942-47. His tour of duty included Iceland, Newfoundland, Holland, Belgium, and Scotland. He currently resides in Prospect Bay, NS, and is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #153, White’s Lake.
