www.ns.legion.ca 37 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion CLARKE, Cecil WWII Cecil was born on March 1, 1918. He enlisted with the Merchant Marines in January of 1940. He served in England, the Middle East, West Africa, South Africa, Egypt, Cyria and Port Maricious. Cecil joined the Royal Canadian Navy on August 3rd, 1942. He served in Sydney, Halifax, Newfoundland, Liverpool, Great Yarmouth, Buckson and Belgium. He was discharged on August 24th, 1945. Cecil passed away on October 24, 1990. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005. CLARKE, Norman Augustus WWII Norman was born in Dominion No. 6 (now called Donkin) on June 1, 1916. At age 17, he began work in the coal mines. He enlisted with the armed forces in 1942 at Yarmouth, NS. He served with the Novies and was stationed in Aldershot, NS and British Columbia before going overseas in 1943. He was stationed in the United Kingdom and returned to Canada in the fall of 1944. He was stationed in Sydney, NS in the medical corp and with Dr. H. Sutherland from fall of 1944 to December 1945. He was discharged to civilian life on December 14, 1945. He earned the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp. He was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #005 Donkin. Norman passed away on May 1, 1991. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005. CLASSON, Charles WWII Charles Classon served in the Royal Air Force during WWII as a tail gunner and was lucky enough to survive. After the war he emigrated to Canada and joined the RCAF until retiring in Summerside PEI. Submitted by Centennial Branch #160. CLASSON, John Wilson WWI John Wilson Classon served in WWI in the British Expeditionary Forces and was killed in 1914. Submitted by Centennial Branch #160. CLEMENTS, Frank WWII Frank served in England with the Cape Breton Highlanders during the Second World War. Submitted by Port Morien Branch #055.
