www.ns.legion.ca 45 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion COX, Roosevelt H. WWII Roosevelt was born in Nova Scotia. He served in The Royal Canadian Navy as supply assistant from 1944 to 1946. He served aboard H.M.C.S. Avalon, Newfoundland and H.M.C.S. Iroquois (destroyer) North Atlantic. He has been a member of the Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion 148, Clark’s Harbour, Shelburne, Co., N.S. for 50 years. Submitted by Cape Sable Branch #148. CRAIG, Doug WWII Doug was born and raised in Kentville, Nova Scotia. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1945. After Basic Training in Quebec he went to England. In his two years of service, Craig flew a total of 30 missions over enemy territory. Following the war, he entered in a successful career in education before retiring in Truro. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026. CRITTENDEN, Marvin K. KOREA Marvin was born in Mulgrave, NS in 1933. He enrolled in the Canadian Army Regular in 1951 and served in Korea from 1952 to 1953. Following his tour in Korea, he served at various locations in Canada, on UN Peacekeeping duties in Egypt and with NATO in West Germany. He retired from the army in 1977, and joined the Canadian Coast Guard until 1995. He moved to Sydney, NS in 1996. Marvin has been a member of The Legion since 1956 when he first joined Branch 37 in Mulgrave, and has been a member of Branch #012 Legion in Sydney since 1996. Submitted by Sydney Branch #012. CROFT, John E. WWII John was born at Clarksville, N.S. in 1922. He joined the Canadian Army, North Nova Scotia Regiment, in 1940, and served in the U.K., Italy, France, Belgium and Holland, returning to Canada in 1945. he now resides at the V.A.C. unit, in Middleton, and is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #009., Windsor. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009. CROSBY, Russel E. WWII Russ was born, raised and lived all of his life in Kentiville, NS. He served with the West Novies from 1942 to 1946, fighting in Italy and Europe. He was a Life Member with MSM and Palm Leaf. He had 40 years of Legion service at the time of his death in 1991.
