www.ns.legion.ca 49 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion DEARMAN, Clyde John WWII Clyde was born on February 2, 1914 in Woodville, Hants County, NS. He served the RCAC with the Princess Louise Fusiliers in the United Kingdom, Italy and Western Europe. Clyde passed away on December 21, 1969 in Waverley, NS. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009. DEGRUCHY, George William "Bill" WWII Bill was born in November 1915. He joined The Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and was discharged in 1945. During the war, he had two ships torpedoed from under his feet and was on the HMCS Assiniboine when she rammed and sunk a German U-Boat in 1942. After the war, he worked in The Halifax Dockyard until his retirement in 1979. He is a 45-year Legion member. Submitted by Fairview Branch #142. DELANEY, Hiram Spender WWII Hiram was born November 16, 1922 in Onslow Mountain. He joined the Canadian Army Active Service on July 13, 1943 at No. 6 District Depot in Halifax. After some training, Hiram was given a one-way ticket to Scotland and landed there April 1, 1944. He was badly injured in the war and in August 1944 he was given a one-way ticket to Truro. He was discharged September 25, 1944. Hiram is a 42-year member of the Legion and resides in Bible Hill. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026. DENNY, Francis KOREA Frank resides in Pictou Landing, NS. He served with The Royal Canadian Army 2nd Battalion from 1951 to 1954, and saw active duty in Korea. Frank takes part annually in the Veterans Day celebrations and can be seen along with his fellow veterans on November 11th. Frank has been a member of Branch #029 since 1957. Submitted by Trenton Branch #029. D'ENTREMONT, Anselm WWII Anselm served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in the U.K., Italy, Sicily, and Northwestern Europe during World War II.
