He joined the Canadian Army in 1943, doing his basic training at Yarmouth and Aldershot, NS. His tour of duty included England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Submitted by Atlantic Branch #153. DUFFY, Charles "Fred" WWII Fred was born in August 1923 in Halifax, N.S. He enlisted in the army in September 1943. After the war in Europe ended, he volunteered for service in Japan and while preparing for this new duty the war ended. He was discharged in May 1946. He worked for The Canadian National Railway and Canada Post until his retirement in 1985. He has been a Legion member for over 40 years. Submitted by Fairview Branch #142. DUNCAN, Matthew Thomas WWII Matthew was born on September 13, 1922 in Halifax, NS. He served with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and Cape Breton Highlanders fromAugust 18, 1941 to January 21, 1946. His tour of duty included the United Kingdom, Italy, Sicily, France, Holland and Germany. He was Mentioned in Dispatches in Oronto, Italy. Matthew passed away on September 25, 2004. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009. DUNN, Harold E. "Duff" WWII Harold was born in Smith’s Cove, Digby County, NS. He served in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corp from 1942-46. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022. EMIN, Les WWII Les joined the RCAF in 1943 and worked in the CE Trade. He was involved in the radar sites from Yarmouth to Goose Bay and various Islands off the East Coast. Les was a member of Kingston Legion Branch #098. Submitted by Kingston Branch #098.
