www.ns.legion.ca 59 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion FINCK, Ralph WWII Ralph was born in Halifax, N.S. on April 2, 1920. In 1940, he joined the Army as an Infantryman with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, and in July 1941 he was shipped overseas. Ralph was wounded, not once but twice during the war. He returned home in November 1946. Ralph is a member of the Legion and resides in Bible Hill, N.S. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026. FISHER, Byard "Red" WWII Red was born on April 11, 1916 in Nova Scotia. He enlisted at Halifax on November 18, 1940, training in Brandon, Manitoba. He served in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He was shipped overseas from Halifax in November 1941. He was stationed in Britain, Limavady, Ireland, Bengali, and Egypt. He was posted to Malta, where he and his crew flew a Wellington bomber in Coastal Command. On November 10, 1942, he and his crew were reported missing. Submitted by Stewiacke Branch #070. FISHER, Harold Douglas "Haddie" WWII Harold was born in January 1920, and enlisted in the RCAF in June 1941. He left for England in March 1942 and served with No. 2 127th Wing Tactical Force as Support Personnel. He landed in France on June 11, 1944 and then into Holland and Germany. After the fall of Europe, he volunteered for duty in the Pacific but the war ended and he returned to Canada & was discharged in August 1945. Submitted by Stewiacke Branch #070. FITZRANDOLPH, Albert Lewis WWII Albert joined the army in 1940 and was attached to the 52nd Anti Tank Battery. Albert was involved in the invasion of Normandy. He was one of the few Canadians to receive the Bronze Star. Albert is a member of Lawrencetown Legion Branch #112, N.S. Submitted by Lawrencetown Branch #112. FLECK, Carl Sydney WWII Carl was born in January 1920 in Middle Stewiacke, N.S. He enlisted with the RCAF in 1940 and was sent to England, and from there to Egypt, where he was attached to The 12th Bomber Group of The 9th United States Army Air Corps, 83rd Squadron - The Black Angels. He participated in 34 missions in North Africa and was awarded the U.S. Air Medal & 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. He returned to Canada in 1943 and completed his wartime service as a Flying Officer.
