www.ns.legion.ca 61 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion FOUGERE, Simon A. WWII Simon was born in Frankville, Nova Scotia in 1923. He served overseas with the R.C.E.M.E. from 1942-1946. He returned to Canada and completed university. After university he rejoined the R.C.E.M.E. until 1958 when he retired. Simon spent many years in Engineering Management in Canada and the U.S., including six years with NASA at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. He and Mary returned to Canada to make their home in Creignish, N.S. and joined Branch #043. He is a Past President of the Branch. Submitted by Port Hawkesbury Branch #043. FRANCIS, Gerald E. KOREA Gerald was born in Annapolis Royal, and grew up and lived in Kentville, NS. He served as a gunner 3 R.C.H.A. during the Korean conflict. He was a Legion member at the time of his death in 2001. Submitted by Kings Branch #006. FRANCIS, Gustave Edwin WWII Edwin was born on January 19, 1915 in Stellarton, NS. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1941, serving with the 113th Bomber Reconnaissance Squadron in Canada, Atlantic, East Coast Anti-submarine Duty. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal (Oak Leaf). Submitted by Stellarton Branch #028. FRASER, David KOREA Dave was born in New Glasgow, NS in 1929 and has resided in Trenton since birth. He served with The Royal Canadian Army 2nd Battalion from 1951 to 1954, and saw active duty in Korea. David takes part annually in The Veterans Day celebrations and can be seen marching along with his fellow veterans on November 11th. Submitted by Trenton Branch #029. FRAUZEL, John Ronald WWII John was born in Chelsea, N.S. in 1923. He enlisted with The Halifax Rifles in March 1940 and served in The United Kingdom, the Mediterranean and Continental Europe, until his discharge in September 1945. After the war, John attended Acadia University and was vice-principal of Oxford Regional High School from 1952 to 1967, then principal until his retirement in 1984. His declarations included the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France & Germany Star, and The Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Submitted by Family.
