www.ns.legion.ca 73 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion HINES, Harold Douglas WWII Harold was born in Central Argyle, Yarmouth County, N.S. He was blinded in World War II at the age of 20. Prior to the War, Harold earned a living by driving a delivery truck. He chose to enlist at age 19, trained in Aldershot and was soon sent overseas. Harold served in the Blackwatch Regiment and was a 50-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion. He returned to his community after the War, rehabilitated, married, raised two daughters, owned his own business, and lived a very productive life until his passing in March 2005. Submitted by West Pubnico Branch #066. HISCOE, William George WWII Wylie was born in Steam Mill, NS and has lived there all his life. He was a gunner with the 3rd Anti-tank Squad, fighting in Holland, France and Germany. He took part in the D-Day Landings. He is a 38 year Legion member. Submitted by Kings Branch #006. HONEY, Frank WWII Frank joined the RCAF early in World War II and served in Europe and Africa. He retired after a long peacetime career. Frank has membership at Middleton Branch #001. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001. HOOPER, Douglas James "Doug" WWII Douglas enlisted on April 1st, 1942. He served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Berlin. He attended the Victory Parade in Dieppe. He was captured and spent the last 6 months in a Prisoner of War Camp where he worked in the salt mines until he was liberated. He was discharged on August 10, 1945 with the Rank of Private. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. He also served with A Company Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005. HOPKINS, Harold M. "Hoppy" KOREA Harold was born in Bear River, NS. He served in the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in Korea from 1951-52. He became a member of the regular forces, retiring in 1977 as a Master Warrant Officer in the Provost Corps. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022.
