MACSWEEN, Peter WWII Peter was born in Donkin, NS on August 30, 1917, to John and Minnie (MacMullin) MacSween. He joined the Army in 1940 and first served with the Engineers Corps, where he traveled throughout California and Arizona demonstrating the Bailey Bridge to the Americans. He was transferred to the Support Company of the Cape Breton Highlanders, where he served overseas in Italy and Holland. He was discharged in 1946. He married Mayme MacKenzie. He was a Life Member of Donkin Branch #005, The Royal Canadian Legion before his death on March 9, 1993. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005, The Royal Canadian Legion. MAHAR, Gordon L “Nub” WWII & Korea Nub was born and raised in Kentville, NS. He fought in France, Sicily and Italy. He also fought in the Korean Conflict. He served from 1939-1945 and 1950-1952. He was awarded the MSM and Palm Leaf. He was a Life Member, and Past President of Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion. He had been a member for fifty-four years at the time of his death in 1999. Submitted by Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion. MAILMAN, Donald W. WWII Don was born on February 24, 1921 in Annapolis Royal, NS. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1940 as an Air Frame Mechanic, and served in the United Kingdom and Europe, returning home in December 1944.
