www.ns.legion.ca 9 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion ALLEN, Thomas Earl WWII Thomas was born in September 1922 in Halifax. He served with the Princess Louise Fusiliers. His service includes N.P.A.M. in the 1930’s (PLF), United Kingdom, C.M.F; North West Europe in World War Two. He commanded a Mortar Platoon of the P.L.F. in 11th Infantry Brigade of the 5th Armoured Division. Later, in Germany, in the 1950’s, he commanded the Mortar Platoon of the 1st Highland Battalion, 27th Infantry Brigade. He was Staff Officer in Fredericton and Halifax, responsible for training cadets. He later served in London, Ontario and Petawawa with the Royal Canadian Regiment. In the 1960’s, he did two tours with the International Surpevisory Commission in Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam. He was head of the support staff of the West Nova Scotia Regiment in 1969. ANDREWS, Alexander WWII Alex was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and served with the Royal Navy from 1940 to 1946. His service took him to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, to Germany and Africa. He is a Life Member of Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion, awarded the MSM and Palm Leaf, with thirty-seven years of service. Alex currently resides in Kentville, NS. ARBUCKLE, George WWII George enlisted on June 12, 1940 in Halifax, NS, with the Cape Breton Highlanders, North Nova Scotia Highlanders, Royal Canadian Provost Corps. He was trained in Amherst and Debert, NS. He left Halifax on July 8, 1941 and arrived in Arrowsmith, England on July 31, 1941. He served in Central Mediterranean Area, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He received an honourable discharge on October 20, 1946 in Halifax. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Defense Medal, Italy Star, and was mentioned in dispatches.
