Regiment from July 20, 1940 to October 12, 1945 in England, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. Stuart is a member of Hants County Branch #009 of The Royal Canadian Legion in Windsor, NS. He was killed in action on October 7, 1943 in Italy. He was awarded the Italy, France, and Germany Stars, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, the 1939-45 Medal (Normandy), and the Holland Medal. He served the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Canada, Britain and France. He received the Distinguished Conduct Medal, British War and Victory Medal. He served in France with the 1st Tunneling Canadian Engineers. Hugh passed away in 1963. MCKENNA, Joseph A. WWII Joseph was from Antigonish County, NS. He drowned on June 22, 1945 at Ghent Canal, Belgium with the K of C Auxiliary. Submitted by Arras Branch #059, The Royal Canadian Legion. MCMULLEN, Joe WWII Joe was born in Dominion, NS, and joined the Canadian Army in 1943. He took advanced training at Aldershot NS, and was shipped overseas in 1944 to Aldershot, England and then onward to the Continent. Joe, a member of the North Novies, spent seven months fighting in Europe, where he was wounded in the Battle of Bienen on March 25, 1945. After being wounded, he was moved to the casualty clearance centre and then to #1 General Hospital in England. After his convalescence, he returned to Canada in 1946. He first lived back in his home town of Dominion and now resides in the Mira region. Joe has been a member of Sydney Branch #012, The Royal Canadian Legion for many years.
