He served the Army with the Seaforth Islanders (Infantry) in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Charles resides in Musquodoboit Harbour, NS and has been a member of Eastern Marine Branch #161, The Royal Canadian Legion for eight years. He served the Royal Canadian Navy and the Merchant Navy on merchant ships and corvettes in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. He sailed out of Hantsport in 1943 on a tramp steamer, hauling wood pulp to the United States. His ship sunk in the English Channel on 1944. Originally, he joined the British Navy and later transferred to the Canadian Navy. He came back to Canada on a Canadian Navy Corvette in 1945. Jack had been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Lethbridge, Alberta before passing away in 1999. Submitted by Lucknow Branch #109, The Royal Canadian Legion. MONTGOMERY, Fred WWII Fred was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1918. He enlisted in the R.C.N.V.R. in 1939, serving on HMCS Lynx and HMCS Amherst doing North Atlantic convoys off the United Kingdom and Europe. He returned to Canada in 1945 and now resides in Middleton, NS. Fred is a twenty-one-year member of Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion.
