He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1943, serving on both British and Canadian cruisers in the English Channel and off Norway, as well as in the Far East, returning home in 1945. WWII Millard was born on June5, 1915. He joined the Army in January 1940 and left for England on April 15, 1940. He volunteered for the First Special Service Force (FSSF) – The Black Devils, where he remained until the FSSG broke up on November 22, 1944. He was then transferred to the Cape Breton Highlanders. REDDEN, Charles WWII Charles was born in Halifax in 1917, and enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1941 as a Radar Technician. He went overseas in 1941 and served in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Holland, returning to Canada in 1945. He now lives in Halifax. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1940 as a Wireless Air Gunner, joining 101 Squadron (RAF) in the United Kingdom in 1941. He was listed as missing and presumed dead that same year. Buried in Winterslagen, Belgium, his remains were then moved to the War Graves Cemetery in Diest, Belgium. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. REDDEN, Louis P. WWII Lou was born in Port Williams, NS in 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy Voluntary Reserve as a telegraphist in 1942, serving on several convoy ships in Europe and to Murmansk, Russia, for which he was honored by the Russian government. He volunteered for the war in the Pacific and returned home in 1945. He re-enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1949, retiring in 1969.
