He worked in Truro as a Telegrapher when he decided to join the Navy. Following Basic Training in Cornwallis, he was sent to a “secret” naval base, HMCS SOMERS-ISLE, at St. George’s, Bermuda. As a Telegrapher, he transmitted secret, coded messages from the Admiralty. Ansley returned to Truro in 1945, where he still resides. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. ROBERTSON, Bud WWII Bud served the R.C.A.F. during World War Two. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion. WWII Robbie was born in Moncton, NS in 1924. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. as an Air Navigator in 1943, and served out of Newfoundland on convoy escorts. He remained in the forces until 1947, and now lives in Kingston, NS. He is a former member of the Moncton Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion.
