She was born in Kentville, and lived her adult life in Rochester, New York and Kentville, NS. She served in Montreal Ordinance HQ, and Halifax HQ. He served with the West Novies in England, France and Italy from 1940 to 1946. He was a thirty-seven-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion at the time of his death in 1983. He was killed in action in July 1917. His original wooden grave marker is held in the Museum at Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion. He served with the 13th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment), and the 40th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force from March 1915 until being killed in action in June 1916 at only twenty-three years of age.
