SEARS, Charles Burton WWII Burt was born in Wood’s Harbour, Shelburne County, NS on August 11, 1921. He volunteered for service in the Navy on June 26, 1941 and was accepted as Able Seaman. He was on convoy duty from Newfoundland to Ireland, then was sent overseas. He served on torpedo boat to patrol the English Channel at night. When war ended, he was given an Honourable Discharge on July 4, 1945. Submitted by Cape Sable Branch #148, The Royal Canadian Legion. SEELEY, Volletort E. Volletort was born on July 15, 1928 in Shawinigan Falls, QC. He served the Royal Canadian Navy on several ships in several different countries. He was discharged with the rank of Leading Seaman. He was awarded the CD and bar, and the UN Medal. Volletort passed away on September 14, 1976. Submitted by Calais Branch #162, The Royal Canadian Legion. SHANKS, Irvin WWII Irvin was born on May 24, 1922, son of Fred and Annie Shanks, in Three Mile Plains, Hants County, NS. He served with the Halifax Rifles and North Nova Scotia Highlanders overseas. Irvin passed away in 1946. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion. SHANKS, John WWII John was born on December 24, 1917.
