www.ns.legion.ca 151 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion TUPPER, Allister Robertson WWII Allister was born on April 19, 1918 in Stellarton, NS. He served with the 2nd Battalion North New Brunswick Regiment from January 10, 1941, until June 22, 1942 in Canada and overseas. He joined the R.C.N.V.R. at Halifax the next day. He was posted to H.M.C.S. Cornwallis on June 27, 1942. He was drafted to H.M.S. Niobe, Scotland, on March 21, 1943. On September 2, 1943, he was drafted aboard H.M.C.S. Athabaskan. On April 29, 1944, Allister was lost at sea at the age of twenty-six. His body was never recovered. His name appears on the Memorial at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, NS. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, C.V.S.M. and clasp and the War Medal. Submitted by Stellarton Branch #028, The Royal Canadian Legion. TWOMBLY, John R. Korea John was born in Springhill, NS and has lived in Portage LaPrairie, Alberta and Kentville. He fought in Korea in the 49th Coastal Battery from 1952 to 1953. VACHERESSE, Harold WWII During World War Two, Harold joined the service as an X-ray Technician, and was shipped overseas. Harold is a member of Kingston Branch #098, The Royal Canadian Legion. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on January 1, 1941. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner. He was killed when his aircraft exploded during night flying training in Beaufort on August 20, 1942 at the age of twenty-six. He is buried at Dunure Cemetery, England: Section E, Grave 191. He was awarded the Aircrew Europe Star, Defence Medal, C.V.S.M. and clasp, War Medal, and the 1939-45 Star. Submitted by Stellarton Branch #028, The Royal Canadian Legion. VERGE, Ralph W. Korea Ralph was born on November 22, 1933. He served the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Army in Korea and Cyprus. He was awarded the Order of Military Merit, Korea Medal, Korea Volunteer Service Medal, SSM, NATO, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Service Medal, UN Emergency Force (Egypt), UN, Cyprus, CCM, Queen’s Silver Jubilee, CD and two clasps, Canadian Corp of Commissionaires LSM.
