She served as a Platoon Sgt. with the Canadian Women’s Corp. in Canada. She is a Life Member of Dr. C. B. Lumsden Branch #74 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Dr. C. D. Lumsden Branch #074, The Royal Canadian Legion. WATTERS, Warren Arthur WWII Warren was born on September 28, 1921 in Stellarton, NS. He joined the Pictou Highlanders in September 1939 at Stellarton. He served at Mulgrave, NS, Dartmouth, NS, and Varlcartier, PQ. His theatres of war include Canada, United Kingdom and Italy. He arrived in the United Kingdom on December 1, 1943. He disembarked in Italy on February 18, 1944. Warren was killed on August 31, 1944 at the age of twenty-three. He is buried at Montecchio War Cemetery in Italy: Lott II-J-S. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, C.V.S.M. and clasp, and the War Medal. Submitted by Stellarton Branch #028, The Royal Canadian Legion. WATTERS, William D. WWII William was born in Stellarton, NS in 1922. He served in Canada, England and France. He was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #74 until his death in 2003. Submitted by Dr. C. D. WAUGH, James Harry WWII Flight Lieutenant James Harry Waugh, D.F.C., D.F.M., C.D., Royal Canadian Air Force, survived two crashes and two parachute landings. He had also shot down at least one enemy fighter. Following World War Two, he was discharged in October 1947. Harry then re-enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1950, to become C.O. of the Air Force Recruiting Unit in Summerside, until joining the Ground Observer Corps in January 1952.
