www.ns.legion.ca 159 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion WHITE, Arnold WWII Arnold was born in Yarmouth, NS in 1921, son of Clayton and Grace White of Kemptville, Yarmouth County. He served the Canadian Army, Carleton and York Regiments, R.C.I.C. Arnold was killed in action in 1944 in Cassino, Italy, at the age of twenty-three. He is remembered with honour in the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy. Submitted by Carleton Branch #167, The Royal Canadian Legion WHITE, EDGAR WWII Edgar was born on March 11, 1919. He was a sailmaker with the Royal Canadian Navy. Submitted by Calais Branch #162, The Royal Canadian Legion. WHITE, William A. WWII & Korea William was born in Halifax, NS in 1917. He served the Navy with the North Atlantic Convoy aboard HMCS Kooteney, St. Stephen, Quebec, Magnificent, Restigouche and Saguney. Submitted by Centennial Branch #160, The Royal Canadian Legion. WHITMORE, Charles E. WWII Charles was born in Saint John, NB in 1921. He lived in Hantsport from a very early age, doing all of his schooling there. He served the Royal Canadian Air Force with NAV 429 Squadron and 121 Squadron. He flew thirty-five trips over Germany in Halifax bombers. He flew in the Battle of Berlin. Charles was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-five years when he passed away. He is buried in River-Bant Cemetery in Hantsport. He served with the RCASC in Canada, England, France, Holland and Germany. He was also part of D-Day Landings at Juno Beach. He was awarded the CVSM and clasp, ’39-’45 Star, France & Germany Star, Defence Medal 1939-45, and War Medal. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for over sixty years, serving on many committees, including President for four years. He worked and retired from Bowater Mersey Paper Company.
