He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1941 at the age of thirty-six and served in convoy duties out of Newfoundland, as well as search and rescue. He returned home in 1945. Clayton celebrated his 100th birthday in 2005 at the V.A.C. unit in Middleton, where he has resided for seventeen years. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. DEMPSEY, James Joseph Korea James was born on July 16, 1928 in St. Georges, NL. He served the Royal Canadian Army with the Special Force in Korea. He was discharged with the rank of Private. Submitted by Arras Branch #059, The Royal Canadian Legion. DEVEAU, Frank Korea Frank was born on November 7, 1932 in Halifax, NS. He served the Army with the R.S.A.C.S. in Korea from 1952-1953, Germany from 1967-1970, Cyprus in 1967, Germany from 1981-1987, and the United States from 1960-1964. He was discharged with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was awarded the SSM and KVM Medals, UN Korea, UN Cyprus, Jubliee, CDII and CDSM. Submitted by Calais Branch #162, The Royal Canadian Legion. DEVEAU, Gerard J. Special Duty Area Gerard was born in Cheticamp, NS in 1938. He was the son of the late George and Virginie Deveau. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1955 and served with the 5RALC. He served in Canada, Germany, and Cyprus.
