www.ns.legion.ca 49 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion FETTER, Edward Calvin Korea Edward was born in 1933. He served the Royal Canadian Navy aboard Athabaskan. He joined the Navy in 1951 at the age of eighteen. He later took a discharge and enlisted in the Air Force in 1955, retiring in 1970. Edward was a member of Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty years before he passed away in 1982. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion. FEVENS, Lawrence Whitman WWII Lawrence was born in Overton, Nova Scotia in 1916. He served with the Merchant Marines – Chomdy, Lord Lalvin; and also with the Navy – HMCS Gaspe, Q-boats Q074, Q079, Q091, HL83, Glonora, North Wind, HMCS Fundy, HMCS Bordercities on the high seas, mid Atlantic, and along the Atlantic coast from Newfoundland to Argentina. His duties included loading ammunition, oiling, dismantling mines, motor mechanics, work in the diesel room as an Engine Room Engineer. Lawrence was awarded the Military Service Medal 19391945, the Merchant Marine Medal, 2 Atlantic Star Medals, 2 different King George Medals, Bar Medal with Maple Leaf. FISHER, Fred WWII Fred joined the Army in 1942 and served in Europe during World War Two, with the 3rd Division as a gunner. Fred is a member of Kingston Branch #098, The Royal Canadian Legion. He joined the Royal Moncton Light Infantry and served in Ostrand, Belgium from 1943 to 1945. He served with the occupation force until 1946. Frank now lives in retirement in Cambridge, NS. FITZRANDOLPH, Albert WWII Albert was born in Middleton, NS in 1915. He joined the Canadian Army in 1939 with the 52nd Anti Tank Battery, and went to Europe in 1941. He received the American Bronze Star for heroism on D-Day under the order of General Dwight Eisenhower. Albert returned to Canada in 1945 and now resides at the V.A.C. unit in Middleton.
