He served the Royal Canadian Army in Canada during World War Two. Thomas was a member of Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty years before he passed away in 1980. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion. GILES, John WWII John joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War One. He went to Ayr, Scotland where 143rd Wind was started. They had 438, 439, and 440 Squadrons. They left Ayr in 1943 and went to Hurn in June 1943, until the end of August. In 1944, the Squadron went to Lantheuil. In September 1944, they went to Brussels and liberated the city. Then the Squadron went to Cock, Germany from March until April 1945. From September 24 until March 29, 1945, sorties against Germany at Eindhoven. In April, sorties in support of Bremen at Achmer. From April 29 until May 29, 1945, sorties near Celle in support of the Army in the Crossing of the Elbes. John returned to Canada in February 1946. He served with the Canadian Scotish Regiment from 1943 to 1946 in Europe. He was a Life Member and MSM with Palm Leaf recipient. T. Korea Neil was born on February 12, 1934 in Pictou, NS. He served the Army in Korea from 1953-1954, NATO in Germany from 1959-1963. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal.
