He served the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada, England, Belgium and Holland. He is a Life Member of Elmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion. He was very active in the branch, and received the Past President Medal and 50th Anniversary Medal. He was key player in the building of the Lantz church. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1940 and had three trans Atlantic voyages on troop ships. He then entered the Canadian Army, returning home in 1945. He now lives at the Middleton V.A.C. unit. HAYES, Laurie G. WWII Laurie was born in Coldbrook, NS and has lived there all of his life. He served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, 45th Army Transport Company from 1941 to 1945. WWII Roy was born and raised in Coldbrook, NS. He served with the 8th Princess Louise Hussars fighting for the 5th Division of the Canadian Army from 1943 to 1946.
