He enlisted in the Canadian Army with the Halifax Rifles in 1940 and served in Canada until being discharged for medical reasons in 1942. Roland passed away at Pictou Landing in 1976. He joined the Canadian Army in 1942 and served in France and Belgium with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. HORNER, Francis Joseph WWII Francis was born on August 25, 1921 in Halifax, NS. He served the Canadian Infantry with the Merchant Marines, R.C.A.S.C. HORNER, Russell WWII Russell was born in New Market, Ontario and lived his adult life in Kentville, NS. He served in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps from 1942 to 1946. He passed away in 1965.
