www.ns.legion.ca 91 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion LIBBEY, Howard Wolfe WWII Howard was born in Sydney, NS on September 5, 1917. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1941. During the war, Howard served in ships (corvettes and frigates) that made 22 Atlantic crossings to Europe. The first ship he sailed in was "The Calgary," which was credited with a submarine kill in the Bay of Biscay. He also reports that he sailed in "The Sherbrooke" and "The Hallowell,"both of which had "probable" kills. Howard took his release in 1945 and rejoined the RCN, serving as a machinist until 1962. He served and sailed in sixteen different ships during his career. He is a Life Member at Sydney Branch #012, The Royal Canadian Legion, with over fifty-one years of service. He served with the Black Watch Regiment of Canada, and the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp in Germany and Korea. Harold passed away in South Rawdon, NS. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion. LOGAN, Jack WWII Jack was born in Truro, NS in 1910. He attended Alice Street School and the Colchester County Academy. Later he worked for the firm of Baird, Thomas and Scott. He enlisted in the military while being employed with the Bridge and Building Department of the CNR. Jack was killed in action on October 23, 1944 in Belgium, at the age of thirty-four. He is buried in Belgium. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. LOHNES, Lemuel J. WWII Lemuel was born in Upper Northfield, NS in 1927. He served the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic and Pacific. LYNCH, Harry Allen WWII Harry was born and raised in Kentville, NS. He served with the 88th Anti Aircraft Battery, R.C.R. attached to the 5th Division.
