www.ns.legion.ca 95 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion MACDONALD, Lloyd Thomas Korea Lloyd was born in Gardener Mines, Cape Breton, NS in 1929. He served the Army with PPCLI and the Royal Canadian Dragoons from 1950 to 1956. He served two terms in Korea and the remainder in Canada and USA. Lloyd now resides in Mississauga, Ontario. Submitted by Centennial Branch #160, The Royal Canadian Legion. MACDONALD, Norman D. WWII Norman was born in New Glasgow, NS and is now living in Kentville, NS. He served with the 1st Division, Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps from 1941 to 1942. He was discharged in 1942 for medical reasons. Norman is a Life Member of Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion, with forty-nine years of service. Submitted by Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion. MACDOUGALL, Neil J. WWII Neil was from East End, Antigonish County, NS. He was killed in action on March 4, 1945 while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He is buried at Harrogate Cemetery, Harrogate, England. Submitted by Arras Branch #059, The Royal Canadian Legion. MACEACHERN, Alexander Alexander was born in Sydney, NS on January 2, 1917. He was called up to service in 1942 and went to New Glasgow for Basic Training, following which he was sent to Debert, NS for additional training. He then found himself in Saint John, NB, training with the Artillery, where he stayed until D-Day. When he left Halifax, he crossed the Atlantic and landed in England in July 1944. In September, he was sent to Ghent Belgium, then to Neighmegan in February 1945 to fight in the Sheltz. In the Antwerp area, he and his comrades found themselves fighting in knee-deep mud. He crossed the Rhine twice with the North Novies and returned to Canada by Flying Boat and moved back to Sydney. He was released in May of 1946. Alex spent thirty-five years employed with the Federal Fisheries Department. He has been a member of Branch 12 Legion for over 33 years. Submitted by Sydney Branch #012, The Royal Canadian Legion. MACEACHERN, John D. WWII John was born in Ballantyne’s Cove, Antigonish County, NS. He was wounded in Normandy on July 29, 1944 and later died of his wounds on June 20, 1946.
