Valleyfield Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Rescue. Lieutenant Mason died at sea in 1944 and is remembered with honor at the Halifax Memorial, Nova Scotia. MATHESON, George Arthur WWII George was born in Donkin, Cape Breton, NS in 1921, and served with the Canadian Dental Corps in Halifax, Aldershot, Sydney and Labrador. He was discharged in 1945. George passed away on September 14, 2003, and is buried in St Mary’s Cemetery in Glace Bay, NS. Submitted by Donkin Branch #005, The Royal Canadian Legion. MCCARTHY, Foster Fitch WWII Foster was born in Truro, N.S. on April 7, 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Regiment on February 10, 1943 and completed Advanced Training in Aldershot #15A1 (R)TC on June 26, 1943. His ship was torpedoed enroute from England to Italy and he served in the United Kingdom and Central Mediterranean Area. Foster was wounded in action in Italy on September 3, 1944, and discharged on July 28, 1945. He passed away on April 11, 2000, and was a member of the Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. MCGRATH, Ernest Edward WWII Ernest was born in Victoria Beach, Annapolis Co., N.S. in 1914. He served in the R.C.A.F. during Peacetime. He retired in 1964.
