www.ns.legion.ca 113 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion MITCHELL, Amos WWI Amos was born in Jeddore, N.S. in 1887, and served with the 31st Battalion Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regt) in France. Lance Corporal Amos Mitchell was killed in action in France in 1917. He is buried and remembered with honor at Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. Submitted by Four Harbour’s Branch #120, The Royal Canadian Legion. MITCHELL, Arthur “Blake” WWII Blake was born in Oyster Pond, N.S. in 1923, to Morris and Emma (Blakeney) Mitchell. He served with the R.C.N.V.R. from 1942-1945 as a leading stoker. Following the war he returned to Oyster Pond where he still resides today. After his discharge, he was a self-employed plumber, electrician and oil burner mechanic. Upon his return from the war, he married Marion Webber from the same community. He joined the Canadian Army with the Signal Corps in 1939 and served overseas in France, Belgium, Germany and Holland, returning home to Nova Scotia in August 1945. Earle passed away on January 14, 2001 at Middleton, N.S. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. MITCHELL, Harland Evender WWII Harland was born in East Jeddore, N.S. in 1920. He served as Lance Corporal with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, R.C.I.C. He was killed in action in the Netherlands in 1945. He is buried in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. Submitted by Four Harbour’s Branch #120, The Royal Canadian Legion. MITCHELL, Lloyd B. WWII Lloyd was born in East Jeddore, N.S. in 1924, to Owen and Eva (Blakeney) Mitchell. He served in the Royal Canadian Army from 1943-1945. He was a platoon sergeant and a sniper. He served in Europe and took part in the Dieppe Raid. After his discharge, he returned to East Jeddore and for the remainder of his working life he was a carpenter. Lloyd died in 2000 and is buried in East Jeddore.
