PETERMANN, Wilfred Ferrier WWI From a Private in the ranks of the Cobalt Regiment to a Major on the battlefield, Wilfred was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme in 1916. He was only 28 years old, and it has been recorded that he was wounded six times before he was killed. WWII Robert was born in Economy, N.S. in 1924. He served the Royal Canadian Army with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in England and France. Robert was wounded on September 29, 1944 at Cap Gris Nez, France. He returned to Canada on Hospital Ship Lady Nelson on February 20, 1945. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Engineer ’s R.C.E. in France, England, Belgium, Holland and Germany. WWI & WWII Hugh was born in Middelton, N.S. in 1896. He joined the Air Force in 1916, trained as a pilot and served in Canada. He rejoined as a pilot instructor in 1940 and served at Summerside, PEI and Peers, Alberta, until his retirement in 1944. Hugh passed away in 1961.
