www.ns.legion.ca 143 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion ROSE (SUTHERLAND), Marjorie Christine WWII Marjorie was born on August 25, 1922 in Earltown, N.S. She joined the C.W.A.C. during WWII, took Basic Training in Kitchener, Ontario, and then went to Toronto for a course in office procedures. She was then posted to Halifax where she worked at Embarkation Transit Unit, Pier 21. Marjorie was released from the military on October 22, 1945 because the C.W.A.C. were disbanding. She resides in Truro, Nova Scotia. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. ROSE, Lewis Henry WWII Lewis was born in Oakfield, Halifax County, N.S. on December 21, 1920. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1946 and with the Royal Canadian Postal Corp from 1954 to 1971. He served in Newfoundland, Petawawa, Montreal, Alert, Cyprus and Halifax. Lewis passed away on February 21, 2004. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. ROSS, Archibald Franklin WWII Archie was born in Truro, N.S. on May 16, 1924. In May 1943, he took Basic Training in Sydney and then a Stearns. Engineering Course at H.M.C.S. Cornwallis. In November 1943, he was sent to Montreal aboard a new frigate H.M.C.S. Stormont. Archie recalls the bitterly cold convoy runs. to Murmansk, including a 63--day run, covering over 11,000 miles. He was on the ship for 1-1/2 years and traveled 63,500 miles, before being released from the military on October 26, 1945. Archie resides in Truro, N.S. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Armored Corp in Canada. He was a member of Elsmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion for 33 years, and served as President from 1972-1973. Carl passed away in 1986. Submitted by Elsmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion. ROSS, Ian S. WWII Ian was born in Westville, N.S. in 1923. He served in the Navy aboard H.M.C.S. Kokanee and H.M.C.S.
