He joined the Nova Scotia North Highlanders in 1939, and later transferred to the Nova Scotia West Highlanders in order to go overseas. Jack was released from the military in 1945 as Dispatch Rider. Jack is a member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion in Truro. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. SHAHEEN, Louis WWII Louis was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1925. He joined the Navy and served the R.C.N.V.R. aboard H.M.C.S. Bomanville. He served in Canada and the Atlantic. He is a Life Member of the Westside Branch #126, The Royal Canadian Legion after 47 years. Submitted by Westside Branch #126, The Royal Canadian Legion. SHERMAN, Covert A. WWII Covert was born in Nictaux, N.S. on March 18, 1910. He joined the Canadian Army in June 1941, and served in the U.K., France and Germany. He returned home in 1945, and passed away in October 1997. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. SIBBINS, Lewis WWII Lewis was born in Graywood, N.S. in 1917. He served in Canada and Europe. He passed away in 1986. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. SIDDALL, Willis WWII Willis was born on December 22, 1921 in Westchester, Cumberland County, N.S. He joined the military on May 1, 1942 in Halifax at age 21. He served in various parts of Europe with the 7th Anti-Tank 1st Corp. After being discharged in February 1946, Willis settled in Truro, N.S., where he still resides.
