He served with the Princess Louise Fusiliers, Cape Breton Highlanders in England, Italy and N.W. Europe. Submitted by New Germany Branch #102, The Royal Canadian Legion. SINGER, Arthur Vaughn E. WWII Arthur was born in Kennetcook in 1907. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Forestry Corp with the 13th Company C.A.S.F. in England and Scotland. Submitted by Queens. Co. Branch #166, The Royal Canadian Legion. SLACK, Ellas WWII Ellas served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, 1 Cdn. L. of C. Sigs. as Signalman during WWII. He was killed in action on January 17, 1944 at the age of 21 years and is buried at the Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, United Kingdom. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. SLACK, Frank Kenneth WWII Frank was born in Truro, N .S. on December 24, 1923. He joined the military as an Infantryman and took Basic Training in Aldershot. Frank then went to the Service Core R.C.A.S.C. in -Aldershot and Windsor, N.S. He was then transferred to the Infantry and went to Orillia, Ontario for more training, which finished on VE Day. Frank completed Advanced Training at Camp Bordon on VJ Day. He then moved to Veterans. Guard who looked after POWs and served in camps in Ontario and Quebec, and then to Thunder Bay and Lethbridge, Alberta. He saw duty in England, returned home to Halifax, and was released from the military in May 1946. Frank resides in Truro, N.S. and is a 30-year member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. SMITH, Carl Frederick WWII Carl was born at Aylesford, N.S. in 1910. He joined the Canadian Army R.C.A.S.C. in 1941 and served in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland from 1942 to 1946, returning to Middleton, N.S. in 1946. Carl passed away in 1977. He was a 31-year member of Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion.
