Submitted by Clare Branch #052, The Royal Canadian Legion. SPURR, Lawrence E. WWII & KOREA Lawrence was born in Middelton, N.S. on June 15, 1923. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942 and served as a fighter pilot in the UK and Continental Europe. He was shot down in December 1941, surviving to fly again. He was mentioned in Dispatches. Larry was released in 1946, but re-enlisted in 1949. He served in Korea, flying Sabers for the U.S.A.F. and was awarded the DFC. He remained in the R.C.A.F. until 1970, and after all the dangers he faced in times of war, he was killed in a car accident in 1973. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. SPURR, Lawrence W. WWII Lawrence was born in Melvern Square, N.S. in 1916. He joined the Canadian Army, 2nd, Field Regiment (Artillery) in 1942 and after training in Canada, he received his commission. He served in the U.K., France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
