www.ns.legion.ca 167 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion THOMSON, Eric WWII Eric was the youngest son of Robert and Margaret I. Thomson of Robie St., Halifax, N.S. He joined the war efforts in 1944, and served in the liberation efforts that followed D-Day. He was killed in action in Rees, Germany. As with many who died in the northern area of Holland and Germany, he is buried in the largest Canadian War Cemetery in Europe, the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery located in Nijmegen, Holland. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery I.C.A., L.D.A.C. in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was a member of Elsmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion. James passed away in 1944. Submitted by Elsmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion. TIBBETTS, Alvin Laurie WWII Alvin served with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, R.C.I.C. as Private during WWII. He was killed in action on June 3, 1944 at the age of 21 years and is buried at the Cassino War Cemetery, Italy – V.K.5. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. TRETHEWAY, J. Reginald WWII Reginald was born in New Germany, N.S. in 1917. He served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Canada, England, Italy and North Africa. He passed away in 2005. Submitted by River John Branch #108, The Royal Canadian Legion. TUPPER, Jack WWII Jack was born in Scotts Bay, N.S. in 1925. He joined the Canadian Army, West Nova Scotia Regiment (Reserves) in 1941 and served in Canada. In 1943, he left the Army to join the R.C.N.V.R. and served on convoys and in support of troop landings on the North Atlantic and in the Mediterranean, returning to Middleton in 1945. In 1950, he joined the R.C.A.F. and served until 1975. He was Past President of Middleton Branch #001, The Royal Canadian Legion. Jack passed away in 1991.
