He joined the Navy in October 1943 and took his recruit training in Montcalm, Quebec, and his advanced Naval and AA Gunnery training at Cornwallis, NS. At the completion of his training, he was assigned to Convoy duties aboard HMCS Cobourg on June 18, 1944. His duties were from Newfoundland to Londonderry, Ireland from 1944 to 1945. Champ was honorably discharged in October 1945 and was employed at Sydney Steel. Comrade Champ is a Life Member at Whitney Pier Branch #128 and still a dedicated member. He served in England, France and Belgium and took part in the Vimy Battle. He was a 25-year member of the Chester Branch #044, where his medals are framed. Waden passed away in 1985. CLISSOLD, Arthur Bertrand WWII Bert was born on January 21, 1925 in Brockville, Ontario. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1946 with Coastal Command, Bomber Command and 432 Squadron. He served in Canada, Northern Ireland and England. His medals include: 1939-45 Star, Defense Medal, C.V.S.M. and Clasp, War Service Medal and R.A.F. Bomber Command Medal.
