He enlisted with the Army on December 11, 1915 and served with the Canadian Infantry (Nova Scotia Regiment) 25th Battalion Division. James was killed in action on April 17, 1918 at the age of 21. COPE, John WWI John was born in 1900 in Windsor, N.S. He served during WWI and was wounded in France. John passed away in 1948 from wounds he sustained while fighting in the war. He married Sara Tracy of Windsor Forks, N.S. in 1898, and later became the father of four sons. and three daughters. Joe passed away in 1934 in Truro, N.S. He was killed in action on June 9, 1944 at the age of 28, and is buried at the Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France (Grave reference: VII. D. 16).
