www.ns.legion.ca 49 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion EARLE, Arthur Leonard WWII Arthur was born on September 26, 1915 in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army as a Signalman on September 13, 1939, and served at Glace Bay and Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was commissioned on January 15, 1943, and subsequently transferred to Saint John, N.B. A medical condition kept Arthur from going overseas. He was discharged from the Signal Corp in 1945. Arthur resides in Truro and is a member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion in Truro. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. EARLE, Joseph V. WWII Joe was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia in 1926. He served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment from 1942 to 1946 and saw active duty in Canada, England, Italy, Western Europe and Germany. He re-enlisted in 1948-1965 with the R.C.H.A Joe is a recipient of the 1939-45 Italy Star, C.V.S.M. & Clasp and the 1939-45 Canadian Forces Decoration Medal. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #29 for 41 years. Until recently, Joe has been an active member of the Branch and participates in the Veterans. Celebrations. on November 11th in Halifax. Joe currently resides at the Camp Hill Veterans.’ Memorial Unit in Halifax. Submitted by Trenton Branch #0 29, The Royal Canadian Legion. EISAN, George William WWII George was born in Ship Harbour, N.S. in 1917. He served the Canadian Army Active Force from 1946-1958. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. George passed away in 1992. Submitted by Four Harbour’s Branch #120, The Royal Canadian Legion. EISAN, Stanley WWII Stanley was born in Ship Harbor, N.S. in 1924. He served the Royal Canadian Army as a gunner with the 2nd Division of the 6th Field in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. His medals include: Tri 1939-45 Star, France & Germany Star, King George VI Medal, 1939-45 Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp, and a thank you medal from Holland in 1945.
