He served the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the Corvette H.M.C.S. Louisburg in Canada, United Kingdom, High Seas and the Mediterranean. Ray was killed in action in 1943, and is survived by his daughter, Colleen O’Neil, who resides in Moncton, N.B., one brother, and five sisters. He served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as Able Seaman onboard H.M.S. Huron during WWII. He passed away on April 15, 1992. GERO, Norman Joseph WWII Norman was born on December 22, 1914, and began his service in the Canadian Army as an Instructor at the Training Camp situated in Parkdale in New Glasgow, N.S. He was L/Cpl. N.J. Gero of No. 1 Platoon “A” Company No. 61 C.A. (B) T.C. He later served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry overseas and played an active part in the liberation of Holland. GIDDENS, Robert Keith WWII Keith was born in Londonderry Station, Colchester County, N.S. on December 6, 1923. In 1942, he joined the Army and was with the Royal Canadian Signals. Keith served in Canada, England and Normandy, and his medals include the C.V.S.M. & Clasp; 1939-45 Star; France & Germany Star; Defense of Britain Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. He is a 46-year member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion and currently resides in Truro, N.S. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion. GILBY, Alan D. “Jake” WWII Jake was born in Elmsdale, N.S. in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 104th Coast Battery in Canada. He was a Life Member of Elsmsdale Branch #048, The Royal Canadian Legion and served as President of the Branch in 1956. Alan passed away in 1999.
